After journalist Mary Landers is assigned to write a Valentine's Day story about The Meaning of Love, her long-time boyfriend breaks up with her. On her train ride home, she finds herself trading glances with a handsome stranger who, as he exits the train, leaves his phone behind. After being dumped by her boyfriend Carl for being unadventurous, Mary (Amy Smart) sets out to prove him wrong by tracking down the handsome stranger (Adrian Grenier), whose cellphone she found on the subway.
