In the 1990's, Kathavaraayan "Raayan" is the eldest of four siblings, which includes his two younger brothers Muthuvelraayan "Muthu" and Manickavelraayan "Manickam" and the youngest of them all, their sister Durga, on whom Raayan dotes on. One day, he is told by his parents that he needs to take care of his siblings until they come back home, which they, however, never do. Raayan then begins to take care of his siblings, as if he were their father, and moves from their hometown to North Chennai.
